Beanfruit Crimson Stamp Signature Blend

Beanfruit is the first coffee from Mississippi on my map.  We were stationed in Mississippi years ago and it's an interesting state.  Too often it gets a bad rap for being last in education and highest in obesity.  I'm not denying those problems, but there is a lot about the state that is fascinating, quirky, fun and beautiful.  We lived on the gulf coast in little Moss Point, MS - right next to Pascagoula.  (a place spell check never thinks is spelled correctly)  The heavy oak trees did indeed drip with spanish moss, just like in the movies and there was an alligator in the bayou behind our house.  It was beautiful and lush and hot as all get out in the summer.  Traveling through the state I have been to the only cactus plantation in the US, a very old Coca-Cola bottling plant and a place that was a combination auto parts / pet store.  The kids played outside and most people spoke with the heavy Southern drawl -NOT, I repeat NOT the twangy nonsense portrayed in the movies.  People from different regions in the south have different accents and they are not all hickified despite what Hollywood thinks.  The accents of Georgia and Mississippi are among my favorites to listen to.

So, I've been to Mississippi and now I have coffee roasted there.  Specifically coffee roasted in Jackson, MS.

The Crimson Stamp Signature Blend is their mainstay blend.  A blend of benas from Costa Rica and Columbia.

I found it to be a wonderful workday coffee.  It was a good cup to have on my desk while I got some stuff done.  Or at least tried to get stuff done - I'm not always good at sitting and working.

I made this one several different ways.  My mainstay Beehouse with a bamboo filter as well as a Hario V0 and a Kalita Wave 185.

All resulted in a very balanced cup.  It was slightly sweet in a fruity way.  Mild cocoa and a nutty taste rounded it out for me.  Not overpowering coffee but not invisible either.  I hate when coffee is little more than bitter brown water or when it is so intense that you feel it in your sinuses.  This one was there and tasty and went well with my breakfast.  The brightness was good in the morning, but not so much that it was too much at lunch time.  Went well with my grilled cheese with cheddar, goat cheese and pablanos.  It was great with a sausage and egg scramble, but not so much with asparagus soup or a big bowl of chex honey nut cereal.

I'm sure I'm all sorts of annoying when people ask me if I want coffee with my meal.  Not all coffee pairs well with all foods - but my instance on that has resulted in some very blank stares.

The packaging was good.  Valved bag, metal tie to keep it closed.  Shipped fast with a tracking number and confirmation email.

I also ordered a mug which you have seen in the previous photos.

I like it.  I'm a fan of simple mugs in 3 or fewer colors.  This one has two.  :-)

The company's About Us page ends with "We put everything we have into making your cup perfect and we hope you enjoy"

You can tell they do put a lot of heart into it and I certainly did enjoy the result.

Who’s up for an LA road trip? For years, the SoCal beer scene has been dominated by San Diego, but times are a changin’, and LA is officially on the beer map

I love coffee - GOOD COFFEE, not that stuff in a can.  I'm addicted to the small batch roasted beans from artisan roasters around the country.  These are some notes on coffees I have enjoyed.  (the ones I didn't like I pretend didn't happen to me)
